Equine-assisted therapy is built on the profound connection between horse and human — but are we truly listening to the horse?

This program equips practitioners with the skills to honour the horse’s voice, recognise subtle communication cues, and integrate ethical, horse-centred practices into sessions.

Grounded in polyvagal theory, bodywork techniques like the Bladder Meridian, and practical strategies for working with diverse clients — including those with ASD and ADHD — this training empowers you to create a more attuned, responsive, and sustainable therapeutic environment.

By giving back to the horse, we strengthen the integrity of our work and deepen the healing experience for both horse and human.

What you will learn

Through interactive discussions, hands-on practice, and real case studies, you will leave with the tools to refine your practice and create a more attuned, ethical, and horse-centred approach.

Understand the Polyvagal System and how it applies to horses and clients.
Learn the Bladder Meridian to read subtle equine cues and support relaxation.
Recognise equine communication and integrate ethical horse-centred practices.
Navigate the complexities of working with clients with ADHD/ASD while honouring the horse.
Identify practical strategies to ensure equine well-being in EAP sessions.

Pre-requisites

This training is designed for equine-assisted therapy professionals and practitioners who want to deepen their understanding of equine communication, well-being, and ethical facilitation. To ensure participants can fully engage with the material, the following prerequisites apply:

Experience in Equine-Assisted Therapy or Facilitation – This program is tailored for professionals actively working in or training for equine-assisted psychotherapy, learning, or personal development settings.
Basic Horse Handling Skills – Participants should have a foundational ability to work safely around horses, including leading, grooming, and recognising basic equine behaviour. This is not an introductory horsemanship course.
Openness to Integrating Bodywork Practices – no prior experience in equine bodywork is required, but participants should be open to learning the Bladder Meridian Technique.
A Growth Mindset & Willingness to Learn – Participants should be ready to explore and reflect on their facilitation practices.

What to bring:

To make the most of your Equine Insight training experience, please come prepared with:

Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing suitable for working outdoors with horses.
Sturdy, closed-toe footwear.
Notebook and pen for taking notes and reflections.
Your own lunch, snacks and water bottle. Tea and coffee will be available.
