Nurturing for Nurses - Nurse Care Project
“The expectation that we can be immersed in suffering and loss daily
and not be touched by it
is as unrealistic as expecting to be able to walk through water
and not get wet.”
- Rachel Naomi Remen

Empowering Nurses & Building Resilience
There's no doubt Australia is facing staff shortages. Nurses are working long hours, in challenging conditions. Often without realising, nurses are experiencing exhaustion, compassion fatigue, depression, anxiety, burn out and reduced job satisfaction.
While we can't change the system, we can look to ways to empower our nurses and help them to build resilience through increased understanding and self-care practices.
This is where this unique and empowering program comes in.
Why this program?
Participants are offered a unique experiential learning experience outdoors with all of the health benefits of nature.
The presence of horses in a learning environment can have profound mental, emotional and physical benefits for humans. Horses can provide clients with additional support, increased awareness, new perspectives and emotional regulation.
Horses are non-judgemental herd animals. They live in close connection with each other so can support humans to explore relational themes such as personal boundaries, trust, attachment, intimacy and vulnerability.
The program is facilitated by two specialist practitioners and co-facilitated by four horses in an idyllic space in Eumundi.
Program Objectives & Schedule
The aim of this program is to support nurses in facilitating increased self-awareness and self-care practices.
Tools wlll be developed in self-regulation, practising awareness, exploring boundaries and setting goals to improve daily life.
A safe and strictly confidential space is provided for nurses to share their stories (if they choose), where they can be seen and heard and explore themselves in a non-judgemental environment.
Full day - 9:00 to 3:00 pm and Half Day - 9:00 to 1:00 pm programs are available.
